Welcoming Webhooks to the flexEngage Platform
Today, the flexEngage team is excited to announce the availability of webhooks, allowing our clients to easily consume data from flexEngage in downstream applications. The webhooks join our open API platform to provide more ways for clients to leverage the data within flexEngage for a variety of business intelligence and customer service needs.
Unlike traditional APIs, where an application can check for data or request completion of a task, webhooks are a more efficient way to consistently and automatically receive new or updated data as it’s available.
Our webhooks were designed to help clients complete two major classes of tasks:
1. Capture transaction and order data and statuses for downstream applications, like a service desk or BI tool
For example, you could create or update a record on your service desk every time an order is updated so that your service team has that information at their fingertips. Using our APIs, take it one step further by re-sending this information directly to the inquiring customer.
Or you could send receipt data into an analytics tool to understand more about item, store, and personnel dynamics without having direct access to transaction logs.
2. Receive requests to deploy fully-rendered notifications outside of the flexEngage environment
While flexEngage supports multiple notification channels, sometimes it makes sense to send your messages on your own. In this case, you could capitalize on flexEngage’s integration with your POS or OMS to generate a request for a receipt or order update via SMS, and then send that fully-rendered message out through a message provider with whom you have a pre-existing relationship.
flexEngage strongly believes that your data shouldn’t live in a silo; we never want to be the place where data gets “trapped” and can no longer add value to your business. While our transactional messaging solutions meet key business needs for our clients everyday, there is always more that you can be doing with your data and we want to help to make that happen. We’ve had a public API for quite some time, and are pleased to bring it to the next level with the addition of webhooks, so that our clients can choose the most efficient and effective approach to leveraging their data.
Interested in understanding how to take advantage of transaction and notification webhooks for your business? Want to learn more about our public APIs? Our team will be happy to brainstorm and consult with you to ensure you are getting the most out of our relationship.
